my "diy" wedding

my wedding bouquet i arranged myself. my maid of honour helped make the bouquets for the bridesmaids, which were similar to mine. we used autumn flowers and even picked some from the garden.

napkins with the guest names. those were pretty simple in linen with a tiny cardboard tag and a little hemp and paper thread ribbon.

table arrangement in the wedding theme colours - beige, brown, purple, rosedust. the paper bags are our diy wedding gifts for the guests - with some herbal tea inside.

the decoration of the wedding location: white cheese-cloth and hand-dyed beige cotton ribbons.

something's cooking

i haven't told you guys about my chinese chicken recipe. i came up with it in a couple of years and it's an all time favourite. very simple. chicken filets, peppers, onion, zucchini, chilli sause (from a bottle, any type works - green pepper, red pepper chilli, whatever). fry in some olive oil (best idea is to cook the chicken and the veggies separately). when they are ready, pour some chilli sause, and voila!

this christmas is about breaking a few ground rules. christmas trees need not necessarily come from the market. christmas trees need not necessarily be green. christmas trees need not necessarily be trees at all.

i am going white-twig-do it yourself-christmas tree. in a vase.

bugdet for the project: 15 lv.

you need balls (glass or plastic). these are plastic, literally unbreakable and they cost 6 lv for a set of 12. you also need some ribbon (2.5 m. in this case = 4lv.). finally some white spray paint (5 lv.). and of course some twigs. you can actually do a good thing and groom the apple tree in the garden a little bit. and here's your christmas diy tree done.

i am sticking to the purple and red theme today. the purple shopping bag is actually used as a laptop bag here, in the lack of a better option. i hate laptop bags by the way, i haven't fund a cool-looking one, yet, so i have been using this substitute for quite a while now.

btw i have been quite lazy these days, and this has negatively affected the blog. on top of that, my camera keeps making really bad pictures. it's either the camera or the lighting at home. i live in a north-looking apartment, hence the limited daylight and the bad quality of most pictures i take. blah.

this dress is a true find. i spotted it at an indian store (ridiculously cheap). i loved the colour of the lace and the cut - it's pretty much like a bath towel wrapped around you. but with a pair of black tights and dressy shoes, it can turn into a pretty formal dress.

i was meaning to share with you guys my recent obsession with this type of platform. actually it's been pretty popular for quite some time now, especially in scandinavian countries like denmark. however, it's not the easiest thing to find something similar in sofia. i have so far come across only one or two worthy examples of the trend. one was way over my budget (maybe you know this quirky leather store on vitoshka str.). the other one was this pair which we just spotted in bagatt, nicely discounted. of course, they are not the same thing, but they are pretty fine, too. my mum and i will be sharing them til the end of summer. :-)

surviving on lemonade

i am surviving almost exclusively on lemonade this days. it's not a diet or anything, it just feels good in the hot weather. i mix freshly squeezed juice from 1 lemon with a huge spoonful of honey. then add water and ice. i am presently enjoying it with a book i just started - plato and a platypus walk into a bar. it's an attempt at a humurous take on philosophy but the jokes are actually pretty dull: "Two cows are talking on the lawn. One says: "Although the mathematical constant pi is usually written up to the second decimal place, it actually goes on till eternity". The other looks at her and replies: "Mew-w-w". The joke is supposed to demonstrate the difference between metaphysicists and non-metaphysicists.

sales in thessaloniki were a bit disappointing for me this time. i guess because i wasn't really looking for anything particular. discounts were around 50% (rarely the advertised 80% we've heard on the news). and then, some stores were a bit overpriced anyway, so the discount wasn't that encouraging really. three hours on tsimiski street in the worst of heat, and all i got was a very basic gap t-shirt for 6 euro. i got it just so that i don't come back empty-handed.
